ENERGIDRICA aims to develop a decision support system for energy efficiency in water supply and distribution networks, generating process innovations in accordance with the principles of energy saving, energy reduction, and integration with sustainable energy sources in three complementary decision‐making areas. These areas are:
• Urban Supply Provision Schemes from Multiple Sources. It will be proposed a structured and replicable methodology to energetically rationalize resource rates from each source, respecting needs, resource availability constraints, and hydraulic carrier capacity.
• Management of pumping in the supply and distribution networks. It will be developed methodologies for the analysis of energy inefficiencies and support for the management of plants that incorporate advanced hydraulic analysis tools, that are management‐oriented, and that allow the physically based modeling of network water loss as energy efficiency indicators.
• Integration using sustainable energy sources. There will be proposed tools for integration with sustainable energy sources into a self-consumption logic to fuel pumping plants. Different functionalities will be geared to supporting the creation of ex‐novo sustainable energy plants, or favouring their use in pump optimization.
